Fees and Statements

This page explains the fee categories that can apply to your account, the rule that a fee exists only if the fee schedule states it, and how to use your monthly statements and tax documents. This page summarizes the Seller Fee Schedule, which governs. A fee is payable only at the amount or rate stated in that schedule.

The fee categories

Payments → Fees (/seller/payments/fees) lists the five fee types that can apply to your account

  1. Referral fees: a percentage of the item price, varying by product category, charged on each sale at settlement. Category rates are stated in the Referral Fee Schedule.
  2. Closing fees: a fixed fee per item sold, in addition to the referral fee for most categories.
  3. Fulfillment fees: per-unit packing and shipping fees when you use Fulfillment by Pawz Shop.
  4. Storage fees: monthly fees for inventory held in Pawz Shop fulfillment centers.
  5. Refund and return fees: fees for processing customer refunds and returns.

The amount or rate of each fee is the amount or rate stated in the Seller Fee Schedule. Do not model your margins on an assumed rate; read the rate for your category in the schedule.

The exclusivity rule: your protection

The Fee Terms and the Seller Fee Schedule state the exclusivity rule: all fees are set exclusively in the fee schedule; no fee exists until it is stated there; and where the schedule names a fee but states no amount or rate for it, the amount of that fee is zero and it is not chargeable until an amount or rate is stated in the schedule. If a charge appears that is not in the schedule, you do not owe it: raise it with support and cite the schedule. Fee changes follow the amendment and re-acceptance terms of the Selling Terms of Service.

Warning

A price change you make, and a category you place a listing in, can change the fees a sale carries, because referral fees vary by category. Check the schedule for the category before you reprice or recategorize a listing; the fee that applies is the scheduled fee for the sale as made.

Statements

Payments → Statements (/seller/payments/statements) is where you download your monthly statements. Each statement is the full accounting for the period: gross sales, referral and closing fees, fulfillment and storage fees where applicable, refunds and their fees, adjustments, reserves held and released, and net payout.

Download and keep every statement. Statements are your records for taxes, for any disagreement with the Company about a period, and for understanding your actual margin. Reconciliation discipline is simple: your statements, your wallet (see Payments, Wallet and Payouts), and your own books should agree. When they do not, work from the statement: it is the Company's record of what happened: and reconcile line by line. Statement and reconciliation terms are stated in the Statement and Reconciliation, and corrections to fees are governed by the Fee Reversals and Adjustments.

Tax documents

Payments → Tax docs (/seller/payments/tax-docs) holds your Form 1099-K and related forms. The payment processor issues the Form 1099-K as the payment processor; the Company does not prepare tax forms itself. The identity on the form comes from your onboarding tax identity (see Business Verification and Tax Identity), which is governed by the Tax Identity and 1099 Reporting Policy. Download your forms when they are issued and give them to your accountant. Do not reconstruct your Form 1099-K income from bank deposits: timing and amounts differ, by design of the payout delay.

If something goes wrong

  • A fee on a statement you do not recognize: check the fee schedule first, then the wallet transaction detail. If the fee is not in the schedule, raise it with support and cite the exclusivity rule.
  • Statement does not match your books: look for timing differences first: the rolling payout delay, refunds posted in a different period, and reserves held versus released: then reconcile line by line before treating a line as an error.
  • A tax document is missing: check that your tax identity is complete and current. A form cannot be issued against an incomplete identity.
