Policies, Violations and Appeals

This page explains the Governance area of Seller Center: where your policies are listed, where violations are recorded, how to file an appeal and within what period, and where the audit log is kept. This page summarizes the Appeals Policy, which governs appeal procedure, and the Seller Enforcement Policy, which governs the measures appealed.

Policies

Governance → Policies (/seller/governance/policies) lists the published marketplace policies that apply to your account, with an acceptance action on each policy that requires your acceptance. The policies that govern you include the Selling Terms of Service, the Service Level Requirements, the Seller Enforcement Policy, the Dispute Standards, the Appeals Policy, the Return and Refund Policy: Sellers (Return and Refund Policy — Sellers), and the Seller Program Terms.

Your record of acceptance: including the six policies you accepted at onboarding: is held under Account → Policy acceptances (/seller/account/policy-acceptances). That record is what is relied on if a question arises about whether you agreed to a rule. Read the policies that touch your daily operations: fulfillment, listings, and returns: before you need them in a dispute.

Violations

Governance → Violations (/seller/governance/violations) lists the violations recorded against your account, each with its severity and status, and shows your account standing. When no violation is active, the page records that your account is in good standing.

Enforcement under the Seller Enforcement Policy proceeds in ordinary steps: investigation, notice, an opportunity to cure where the violation is capable of cure, and then a measure proportionate to the violation: which may include listing suppression or restriction, a payout hold, suspension, or termination. A severe violation, such as counterfeit goods, fraud, or a safety risk, may proceed directly to a serious measure. Each violation is recorded with the measure applied, any cure period, and the appeal path, so you can see where you stand at every step.

Appeals

Governance → Appeals (/seller/governance/appeals) is where you file an appeal. The form asks for the violation being appealed and the reason for the appeal, and the appeal is reviewed by a person who did not make the original decision.

File your appeal as follows

  1. Identify the measure you are appealing: the finding, suppression, hold, suspension, or other measure recorded on your account.
  2. State your grounds: a material error of fact, a material error in how the policy was applied, remediation you have completed, evidence that was incomplete or incorrect, a procedural irregularity, or a measure that exceeds what the finding permits.
  3. Attach the evidence specified for the violation class. For authenticity and sourcing violations, that means supplier invoices meeting the requirements of the Invoice Evidence for Appeals: itemized, dated, identifying the supplier and the purchaser, sufficient in quantity, and unaltered: together with proof of payment, and brand authorization where the brand is gated.
  4. Submit the appeal, and keep your own copy of the appeal and the evidence, with dates.

Warning

You must file an appeal within 30 calendar days after the measure. A late appeal may be denied as untimely, and completing remediation does not extend the period: file the appeal and remediate in parallel. Filing an appeal does not pause the measure: a suppression, a payout hold, and a suspension remain in effect during review unless the Company directs otherwise in writing.

The Company acknowledges an appeal within 2 business days, stating who will review it, the decision period, and whether the measure is stayed. A decision is issued within 14 calendar days after filing, or within 21 calendar days where the appeal is supported by invoice evidence, to allow time to verify supplier documents. The Company's decision on an appeal is final within the marketplace. Dispute resolution after the appeal process is governed by the Dispute Resolution Policy, and enforcement appeals at platform level are addressed in the Enforcement and Appeals Policy.

Keep your invoices in the shape the Invoice Evidence for Appeals requires from the day you start selling. An appeal that depends on sourcing evidence cannot be repaired at appeal time if the underlying documents were never kept.

Audit log

Governance → Audit log (/seller/governance/audit-log) is the record of actions on your account: enforcement measures, appeals, and policy acceptances among them. Review it periodically. If you ever need to reconstruct what happened and when, this log is your evidence.

The posture to hold

The rules summarized here bind you because they are published and you accepted them, and your operations should meet the standard before any measure is taken. The sellers who are comfortable under this system are the ones whose records, invoices, and operations already meet it.
