Reading a Product Page

This page covers what each part of a product page shows: price, options, stock, and reviews: how the Add to Bag and Buy Now buttons differ, and what to do when part of a page looks wrong.

Price and badges

The large number in the panel beside the photo gallery is the price you pay for the item. Below it you may see

  • A struck-through price with a SALE badge and a saving percentage. The struck-through price appears only when the product is marked on sale and the comparison price is higher than the current price.
  • A NEW badge on recently added products, or a BESTSELLER badge on products that sell in volume. These badges describe the product; they do not change the price.

Prices are governed by the Pricing, Availability and Errors Policy. Product information is governed by the Product Information Disclaimer.

Options and quantity

Many products offer options such as size, flavor, or color. Options are grouped by type. Selecting an option can change the price and the photo. Each option you choose is treated as its own line in your bag, shown with a label such as "Product Name: Large." A product with no options has no picker.

The quantity stepper on the product page sets how many you are buying, from 1 up to 10 of one item. Checkout permits up to 20 of one item.

Add to Bag and Buy Now

The two buttons do different things

  • Add to Bag adds the item, with your chosen option and quantity, to your bag and keeps you on the page. Your bag count in the header updates. Use it when you are still shopping. See Your Bag.
  • Buy Now takes you directly toward payment for that item. If you are not signed in, you are sent to sign in first and then returned to the product, with your selection kept.

Express wallet buttons, such as Apple Pay and Google Pay, may appear below the two buttons. They open the same checkout using your wallet's saved details. If a wallet payment fails, the page tells you so, and you can complete the purchase through Add to Bag instead.

One-time purchase and subscription purchase

Eligible consumable products: food, treats, supplements, and flea and tick products: may also offer a subscription purchase alongside the one-time purchase. Durable products, such as beds and toys, are sold one-time only. Enrollment, discounts, and how to pause, skip, or cancel are covered in Reship.

This page summarizes the Reship Subscription Terms, which governs.

Photos

A product page shows up to eight photos, with the first as the main image. Selecting an option can change the gallery to show that option's image. A product with one photo shows one photo.

Details below the purchase panel

  • Highlights: up to four short points drawn from the product's own published description, specifications, and questions and answers.
  • Detail tabs: ingredients, directions, specifications, warranty, and the full description, depending on what the product carries. Pet food listings show ingredients and feeding directions. A product with no warranty text has no warranty tab.
  • Frequently bought together: companion products, each with its own add control.
  • Reviews: customer reviews for the product. The average rating and the number of reviews appear with the purchase panel. Reviews are governed by the User Content and Reviews Policy.
  • Customers Also Bought and You May Also Like: further product rows based on the product and its department.
  • Things for Your Pet: department suggestions drawn from the product's own department path, limited to departments that have products.

Stock and availability

The purchase panel reflects the stock of the option you selected, not the product as a whole. One size can be available while another is sold out. When an item or option is out of stock, the purchase buttons are disabled and no backorder is offered. If an item in your bag sells out before you check out, checkout checks every line again and tells you which item is no longer available instead of charging you for it.

If a product page looks wrong

  • The price differs from your last visit. Prices can change, for example for a promotion. Checkout checks the current price for every line and shows the verified total at the review step before you pay.
  • The page says the product is not available for online purchase yet. The product is in the catalog but has no purchasable price attached. It cannot be bought until a price is attached.
  • A photo does not load. The purchase panel still works. Report the page address through the Help Center at /docs.
  • The wrong option is in your bag. The bag line shows the option label. Remove that line and add the item again with the correct option selected.
